Advocacy is near and dear to my heart.

As a mom of 3 children, including one with complex Special Education needs, I get it. When we began our Special Education journey, first through Early Intervention and then with our local school district, I discovered how overwhelming the process can be. I realized I was extremely lucky to have a background in Speech-Language Pathology and Reading, and the huge advantage that my education gave me at Team meetings.

I began helping family members and friends with their Special Education needs and quickly realized that I was passionate about this work! I decided to go back to school to increase my knowledge of IDEA, ADA, and Massachusetts Special Education Law. I spent a year completing the nationally recognized Special Education Advocacy Training (SEAT 2) program through COPAA.

As a Non-Attorney, Special Educational Advocate, I have successfully secured district-funded compensatory educational services, Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs), Functional Behavior Assessment’s (FBAs), and Out of District Placements. I have walked side-by-side with families through the dispute resolution process and have also helped families obtain initial and amended IEP’s and 504 Plans, Extended School Year (ESY) services, bullying prevention plans, and much more.

My goal as an advocate is to partner with families to help them achieve the best possible educational outcomes for their child. Along the way, I hope to empower parents by sharing with them the information they need to feel confident facing their school district.

Before becoming an Educational Advocate, I worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist in a variety of settings. I earned a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Language and Literacy from the MGH Institute of Health Professions. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Communication from Charleston Southern University.

When I’m not partnering with families and school systems, you can find me browsing the aisles of Home Goods, home with my family, or sipping a hot cup of coffee with friends.
